This has been a very quick journey. I started this journey with excitement for the new things I had plan to learn. Like all journeys when you first start you jump right into it with both feet. That is what I did jumped right in. As I went on I begin to wonder am I there yet. No not yet I heard my mind say. By the time I got to item 15 I begin to wonder would I complete the task I started. In my mind I was not going to let misd23things win over me. I won and now I am better for it. I plan to continue to blog from time to time. The closer a new school approaches I look forward to share with my new parents. Most of them are not new to the things I have just learned about. If I am going to be effective as a teacher I need to step up to the plate and learn how and use the new technology that is available to me. Some of the things I know I will use is YouTube, when we start to learn about nouns and verbs. I will use a slide show of the things my students do during the year to show the parents from time to time on a blog. There is so much to do with this new found knowledge I have. Please do not change the course at this time. But knowing how technology changes I someday this course will too. I plan to encourage my co workers to takes it. Thank You for all you have done to ensure that teachers have a chance to learn new things.

I have finally figure out how to do what was needed for this item. To me it was hard. But I did not let it get me down. I would work on it for a while then walk away from it. After I got it done I felt a sense of relief. This is maybe the only one that really made me feel like giving up. But after working on it for a while and seeing things come together I was so proud of my self. Yes I put the video, pictures, and much, much more on my wiki page. I can smile at it and say "I got you and not you got me." To see what I am talking about just check it out. If you don't want to hear all of the music just click on the music icon in the slide show that will turn it off. I hope you enjoy what I have done. I know it is not super but it was fun.

I have worked and now I have reached item 23 I still have one more to go. That is item 15. I know that social networks can be and are good to have. This allows us to communicate with others that may fell the same way we do. It also allows us to stay in touch with old friends, and make new friends. I think that Ning is also a good network to have. I found a few things that I can use in the classroom. Yes, I can use most of the things I have learned here over the last few weeks in every part of life. I enjoyed during the posting of the pictures, slide show,and more when they work. I will use the social network to keep in touch with my parents and they can see what is going on in the classroom.

I have a myspace account now. I can't believe it. I was one of them that feel that myspace is a waste of time until now. I can see how having a social page is a good thing. One I can update the parents on things that are happening in the class. They can find out about me and know who I am. Parents are on myspace daily talking to friends and catching up with lost friends. Why can't we do the some thing for the classroom? There are some things I need to do to myspace and I will as the summer goes on. I Plan to put a music list on it soon.

One of the cool things I saw and plan to use is the google calendar. I can keep up with my conferences, Dr, appts. and any thing that is important and I need to have a record of. I also crated a google library of some of the books I like. This was really fun There were some that seem to have gotten the best of me at this time. But I will try it later when I am not so short of time. I hope I did the link right so that you can see my calendar and library. The calendar can be used and posted on a blog for the parents to see what happening in class. Making a library can help the parents choose books for the students to read.

There are many ways that google doc can be used. One way it can be used to help keep up with the work that the class is doing for the week. You can use the spreadsheet and check it off as the work is completed. I would use it that a way. Second way it can be used to keep up with the work that is turned in by the students as they turn it in. Just the way this course is using it now. I can see it being very helpful for me to keep up with the work. Third way I would use it is by keeping up with books that I use in the classroom and when I loan it out to another teacher so I am not wondering where it is when I need it. These are just a few ways I can use google doc. Oh another way will be to use it as a way to keep up with the test that I will need to do during the year.

Voice thread is something new to me. I see it as a good tool to use in the classroom. It can be used to allow the students to express their thoughts. If I were to use it in the classroom I would allow the students to tell their stories that they have written or feel like telling if they are not able to write or put what they are thinking into writing. Sometimes new things can cause fear in the person who is trying it. However I plan to give it a try. Just to see if the students and I can work it out.

YouTube can and will get you into a lot of trouble. I was on it for most of the day this is with a timer. I found so many videos I can use. Some for the classroom, some for my personal enjoyment. and some just for laughs. A few of them I have shared with family members. One was sent to me by a family member. The schoolhouse rock videos can be used in the classroom. They brought back members of when they were first seen on Saturday mornings and they helped you to remember what a noun is and how to use a conjunction. How about the way a bill becomes law. I put one of my favorites on my blog. I plan to show my students parts of these when we start to learn about nouns.

Podcast is all new to me. I have heard little about it but not much. After checking a few of the podcast in thing 17, I feel that I can use it in the classroom. I loved listening to the first grade podcast on Radio Willow it made me started me to thinking that maybe I could do this in my classroom with the students I teach. This will take some time I know but what better way to do but to just do it.Dragonfly TV was another site to get lessons from. But my all time favorite was PBS -podcast here there were so many to choose from I made a choice of the one I know will help my i the classroom.

Library Thing, this is a great way to get ideas for books to read. I was looking though it and before I knew it two hours had gone by. I found books that I read as a child. Some books that I want to read and I found out the author who I was think of was really another author. I was thinking that Tom Clancy wrote the book Pelican Brief but it really was John Grisham. Now, here is the real kicker I was thinking that John Grisham wrote Executive Order when it really was (that's right you guess it) Tom Clancy. Now I can find the books by the right author and share them with my friends. Same with books for my students I look them up and share them with my students. What a great thing to have handy.

As I approach this assignment I am excited. Just from read what a wiki is I began to think. That I might could use it when I do my writing for another class. What better way to get papers edited. I could use it for the classroom. This would make a great tool for me to find fun facts for my students. After, I came down I began to look at some of the posted wiki. The first one I looked at was Code Blue, it had a great lay out the students put a lot of work into the wiki. Putting some of the information in a story form made me want to read it. It was easy to understand. Both adults and children can read and maybe understand what things are in the body. The next one was Go West, this is a study of the westward expansion along the Oregon Trail by third grade class. It was easy to navigate. It had fun games to play and the information was shared in a good way. What better way for students to show what they know about their history. Finally, the Kindergarten Counting Book and Primary Math. these two wiki about math the kindergarten one was so cute. the primary math one is still a work in progress. It will be finished some day with the help of other primary teachers. Yes, I can see wiki in my future as a teacher it is so cool.

Well, in this item, I looked and looked and found so much to work with. I finally stopped on math. I look forward to using this site more and more. I plan on starting to us it every day. I can see how this tool can be very useful in the classroom. I can see using this as class station. I can't wait to see the student's faces when they do this in the math station. I will continue to look for more things on delicious, that I can use for the year.

Wow! I didn't want to stop looking at all the cool tools. There are so many to choose from. I really fell in love with www.jigsone.com and tadalist.com. I think because I like to do puzzles and if I make a list of the things I need to do it keeps me on task. I even put a puzzle on my blog. I can see how it can be used in both my personal life and in the classroom. I have signed up for my to do list as will. 30 boxes.com is also great for list making. I also see using it to help keep up with meeting that I have with parents and any contact information for the school year.

I really did have fun doing this item. Choose bugs because I really like Bugs Bunny. This can be used in the classroom by the students to express themselves and show who they are by using the pictures to show their feelings and express how they see themselves. It seems like summer is just flying away. So I use Bugs to express what I think about summer. He (I am) trying to catch up with summer and hold it just a little while longer.

Once again I have seen something on google reader that made me want to go (hmmm....). That was the nomination of Regina Benjamin for the surgeon general by President Obama. I remember reading about this remarkable doctor in Reader's Digest about two or three years ago, it was not too long after Katrina. This doctor is truly a God sent to the people of Bayou La Batre, Ala. If she is confirmed I am sure she will be of big help to our country.

After reading some of google reader One thing that caught my eye was how technology is making the world flatter by the day. The article was stating how twittering was helping the world know what is going on in Iran. Since that country has had it's presidential election. Another article that was of interest was about a study done at Ohio State University concerning interracial roommates. In the article it was stated that roommates of a different race can reduce prejudice in the schools. It is believed that the students will get to know each other and their cultures better. I think that in today's time it is sad that we still are having the look at one another by the color of ones skin before we look at the content of their mind. When are we as a country going to get it together and put racism to the side and stop being prejudice.

Exploring Flickr was fun. I took two days to this lesson. I wanted to find the right pictures for the theme I was looking for. I went for the wild animal look since our school theme for the next school year is Wild About Learning. I found four links that I liked for this purpose. I really loved the photo by Jason Rojas. The animals in his animal folder are great. The other photos that I liked are the ones by andryone. There were pictures from the San Diego Zoo and a wild life park.

I can see how this can be another tool to use in the classroom. I can see how creative commons can be useful in the classroom. Students can use it for research. CC can help the students find more information about a person. I can see it being used in the upper grade levels. It could be used by the lower grade level also. To do fact finding of an person.

This is by far the easiest item to do. What I have learned is that commenting is very important to the blogging world. It helps to build the community of the blogger. It also helps the blogger know that someone is reading their thoughts and concerns. It is also scary to know that I am opening myself up to people I don't know into my thoughts and concerns. Some one may feel the same way. I can see how it is important to comment on a blog. I like to think of leaving a comment is like an answering machine for the phone. Leave a comment and I will get back to you soon. One thing that is important about commenting is that you make sure that you are contributing to the discussion that is read.

This has been one of the hardest items for me to wrap my mind around. Reading blogs and looking at blogs that peak my interest has been very hard. I have now picked a few I like. Because I have been in a writing class for the past three weeks, I have really fallen behind. But now I on a roll and look forward to do more for this class. I did however check my readers. I have also added a new blog to my reader. Wow! picking 2-3 blogs is not easy to do but, I have narrower my search down to Betty's Blog This was a blog that learning by longhornmom has as one of favorite for item 6. The other two blogs that I really liked are speed of creativity and techlearning I them on coolcat teacherblog. These are just a few blogs that I plan on using in the hopes of helping my first graders learn.The best thing about adding things to my reader is that it is becoming easy to do. The last part of this item is to go to news goggle.com and pick a topic that is of interest to me and put it in a link

On this blog I would like to inform others about a condition called Frozen Shoulders it happens to most of us in the 40 to 60 age group. I know about this because right now I am suffering with this condition at this time. There is a lot of information concerning Frozen Shoulder. I was really surprise to find so much on this subject. Since it effect about 3% of the population, and 70% of them are women. I wanted to share this with my 23 things class members. Maybe some one out there maybe suffering like I am. To the blogger that tried the above link and could not get anything, I think I have fix the problem, please try again.

After viewing both my classmate's blog and the suggested blogs. I feel I may have over step my knowledge of computers. One thing I have noticed is that the genre some to be that of informational. It can be a great tool to use for reading. Mark's edtechblog shows talks about how he used the blogs to get he students to read. One thing I see that all blogs have in common is the fact that are comments on most blogs. I like to hing of leaving a comment like an answering machine for the phone. Thing 3 Registering your Blog

I think so far this has been the easiest thing I have done. registering my blog. Putting the avatar was not so easy for me. I have been working on this for over a week now and today I got not just one avatar but two. Now please don't ask me how I did it. All I know is I went to pictures instead of the Htta/Java box. Now, if I can figure out how I did this it will be great. Now for all of you that are smiling go right ahead. At least I got an avatar on my blog. Now I need to play catch up on my assignments so enough of this, I am now moving on to thing 4.

Being able to contribute, create, and collaborate with other students and teachers is the way of life now. When we have students that can text one another and i.m. one another why would we not want to use a tool such as Web 2.0 and the things it has to offer. As teacher we can collaborate with teachers across town, state, and country or more, on lessons and ideas for lessons to share the world with our students. Students can help each other understand topic that maybe hard to understand from students across the land. That is why Web 2.0 can be used in the classroom.

After viewing 71/2 habits I learned a lot. The first thing is that making goals is the easiest thing to do. The hardest is viewing problems as challenges. When I look a goal it always with the end in mind. I will start looking at my problems as challenges and not crises.
